DAY 2

This morning we started our day by heading over to get our Cleveland County food handlers card. Luckily for Laura, she already had a ServSafe card, but I had to take an hour long class that included a lecture and a short test in order to get mine. Afterwards, we met with Frank Henry, who is the Director of Food Services. We learned a ton about the different renovations and plans to improve the dining services on campus in the upcoming years. Then he took us on a tour around campus, which is so beautiful! One spot on campus that interested both of us is the National Weather Center. OU brings in many meteorology students because it is a great spot to study all the tornadoes. For those of you who have seen the movie Twister, the National Weather Center is actually the home of "Dorothy,"the machine that measures the tornadoes!

Another one of our favorite aspects of our tour were the automatic hand washers, which were completely new to us! You put your hands in each of the holes and it sprays out soap and water, washing your hands for you!!

After our tour, we went to have lunch in the student union. We both got salads, and they were delicious! One of the employees we had lunch with brought over a milkshake from Chik-fil-a to try a sip of. It was vanilla ice cream mixed with lemonade, and we were both hesitant to try it, but it turned out to be amazing and definitely something we would both try again! Once lunch was over we went back to the office, where we worked on our projects a little more, and finally got our bikes!!

We were so excited to ride our bikes around campus, so once 5:00 rolled around that's exactly what we did! After biking the campus, we stopped at Couches, the main dining cafeteria, to get some dinner. Once we were finished eating we went to sign up at the gym. It's such a nice gym and we definitely are going to get lots of use from!! We got a great workout in, and it was so nice to get out of the heat to run! We decided to bike and try out Braum's, a homemade ice cream shop right off campus. On the way there, we saw a lake (all lakes are man-made in OK), but it was very peaceful.

We seem to have the same taste in everything, so naturally we both got the pistachio almond ice cream at Braum's. Easily some of the best ice cream we have tasted, and for only $1.50, I'm sure we will be making MANY trips there!! Finally, it was time to bike home after a long day of adventuring!
