Wyoming Week 2!

This week we were front of the house in the Washakie Dining Center.  We kind of ended up being all over the place. We moved tables, sanitized, ran the dish room, cut up some veggies, served, and ran the salad bar! Orientation was here during the week so at times it got a little crazy! I was helping with the salad bar and it was very hectic!

Dish room:

We spent a few days in the dish room!  Olivia and I swapped between dirty and clean dishes.  The clean ones come out of the dishwasher so hot!  They have these special gloves that protect your hands from the hot dishes.  They worked very well!  Some of the people who work in the dish room at Washakie are extremely hard workers.  Francisco and Gloria both help run the dish room and they are some of the hardest working people I have ever met.  Whenever they are there things run very smoothly!  By the end of our time in the dish room we were pros are running and cleaning out the machine as well as filling and temping the 3 compartment sink!

Serving:

During some of the orientation days we got to serve!  At dinner we got to work at the Classic Cuisine station serving the orientation groups.  At first it looked like Olivia had the more popular dish because no one was coming to my station to get the Alfredo.  Then, all of a sudden everyone wanted Alfredo!  My line was almost all the way to the cash register!  Gloria had to come help me because we had to start refreshing the pasta really quick.  We both really enjoyed getting to serve.  We had a lot of fun.  The people who work at Washakie are great and make working there very enjoyable!

Weekend event:

Tom gave us friday off because we were working this big wedding in Laramie on saturday!  We were originally supposed to be front of the house for this wedding, but ending up being back of the house at this other dinner for the Wyoming Association of Broadcasting across the street at the Conference center.  One thing I learned about catering is its either nothing going on or you don't stop moving!  It was really awesome because we got a great steak dinner on our break!  We definitely put our dish room knowledge to good use in the back of the house!  We got the dishes done pretty quickly.  There were a lot of them so it was important to keep it going.

The broadcasters gave us gift bags full of all sorts of goodies!

On Sunday, we went to Saratoga Wyoming to see a natural hot spring.  The drive there was absolutely beautiful!  The pictures just do not do it justice.  We drove right through the Snowy Mountain range on the way.  When we got to the hot spring, we assumed we could just stick our feet in.  There were a few people sitting in the main hot spring so we figured it wasn't that hot.  We went to put our feet in and immediately pulled our feet out in shock of how hot it was!  A few people there were laughing at us because they just did the same thing!  It was so cool to see the bubbles come up from the ground and watch the hot spring naturally heat itself! They have a second hot spring thats a little cooler so we ended up sitting with everyone in that one for a while.  It was really relaxing!   On the way back, we stopped at Libby Flats to over look the awesome scenery.

 View at Libby Flats!
